Eligibility Requirements of UP Police
Eligibility is checked as on the application closing date.
Nationality
- Indian citizen, or
- Tibetan refugee settled in India before January 1, 1962, or
- Person of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, or specified East African countries with intent to settle permanently (eligibility certificate required).
Education
- SI (Confidential): Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university; Hindi typing 25 wpm (Unicode Inscript keyboard), English typing 30 wpm; Hindi shorthand 80 wpm; ‘O’ level computer certificate from NIELIT or equivalent.
- ASI (Clerk): Bachelor’s degree; Hindi typing 25 wpm, English 30 wpm; ‘O’ level computer.
- ASI (Accounts): B.Com or PG Diploma in Accountancy; Hindi typing 15 wpm; ‘O’ level computer.
Candidates must have final marksheets/certificates at the time of application; appearing candidates are ineligible.
Preferential Qualifications
Preference for candidates with higher computer certification from NIELIT/DOEACC or Bachelor’s in Law (if other things equal).
Age Limit (as on July 1, 2025)
- 21 to 28 years (born between July 1, 1997, and July 1, 2004).
- Relaxations:
- OBC/SC/ST (of UP): 5 years (max 33 years).
- Certificates required in prescribed format; otherwise, treated as Unreserved.
Physical Standards: Height (male 168 cm, female 152 cm, with relaxations for ST/hill areas), chest (male 79-84 cm), weight as per height. Submit certificates for relaxations.
Selection Process of UP Police
- Online Written Examination (objective type, subjects include General Hindi, Law/Constitution, General Knowledge, Numerical & Mental Ability, Mental Aptitude/IQ/Reasoning).
- Document Verification and Physical Standard Test (PST).
- Typing Test/Skill Test (typing speed, shorthand for SI Confidential).
- Medical Examination.
- Final merit list based on performance.
