Eligibility criteria
Qualification:
- Technician Apprentice:
- 3-year full-time Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Instrumentation, Electronics, or Electrical & Electronics Engineering with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwBD).
- Trade Apprentice (ITI):
- 10th pass with 2-year ITI (NCVT/SCVT approved) in Fitter, Electrician, Electronics Mechanic, Instrument Mechanic, or Machinist.
- Graduate Apprentice:
- Full-time Graduation (BA, BCom, BSc, BBA) with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwBD).
- Trade Apprentice (Data Entry Operator):
- 12th pass (non-graduate) OR 12th pass with Data Entry Operator skill certificate.
Age Limit
Minimum Age Required: 18 years
Maximum Age Allowed: 24 years
OBC: Upper age limit relaxed by 3 years (up to 27 years)
SC / ST : Upper age limit relaxed by 5 years (up to 29 years)
PwBD: Upper age limit relaxed by 10 years (up to 34 years)
Salary and benefits
- The stipend includes the government-approved rate plus an additional ₹2,500 per month provided by IOCL for miscellaneous expenses.
- Graduate and Technician Apprentices: Part of the stipend is credited directly to the bank account through DBT, and the remaining amount is paid by IOCL.
- Trade Apprentices:
- The full stipend is paid by IOCL.
- No extra allowances like DA, HRA, or TA are provided, as this is a training program

Mode of Selection
The IOCL Apprenticeship 2026 selection is based purely on merit. There is no written examination or interview.
Step 1: Merit List Preparation
A state-wise and trade/discipline-wise merit list is prepared using the marks obtained in the required qualification (ITI, Diploma, or Graduation). If two candidates have the same marks, preference is given as per age or qualifying exam marks.
Step 2: Document Verification
Candidates shortlisted in the merit list are called to verify original documents, including age proof, educational certificates, and category certificates (if applicable).
Step 3: Medical Fitness Test
Final selection is subject to medical fitness clearance as per IOCL guidelines. Medical test expenses up to ₹3,000 may be reimbursed after joining.
