Recruitment Stages of Selection in Indian Army

The Indian Army SSC Technical entry stands out because there is no written examination. Selection is based entirely on application screening, performance in interviews, and medical standards.

Phase 1: Application Screening
  • Applications are reviewed by the Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence ( Indian Army).
  • Shortlisting depends on a minimum cut-off percentage applied to marks obtained in the engineering degree.
  • Expected announcement of cut-off: First week of March 2026.
Phase 2: Services Selection Board (SSB) Process
  • Candidates who clear screening receive calls for the SSB interview.
  • Length: 5 days.
  • Tentative period: April to June 2026.
  • Breakdown:
    • First Day (Stage I): Officer Intelligence Rating and Picture Perception & Description Test (PPDT).
    • Remaining days (Stage II, if cleared): Psychological tests, Group Testing Officer (GTO) activities, and personal interview.
Phase 3: Medical Check-up
  • Only those recommended by the SSB board proceed to a comprehensive medical examination.
Phase 4: Final Merit List
  • Ranking is determined solely by SSB performance, provided the candidate meets medical fitness standards and educational requirements.
