Good to Know about Indian Air Force
The Indian Air Force (IAF) stands as the proud aerial guardian of India’s sovereignty, serving as the air arm of the nation’s armed forces. Established on October 8, 1932, during British rule as an auxiliary force, it evolved into a full-fledged independent entity after 1947, playing vital roles in securing Indian airspace, conducting aerial warfare, and providing crucial support to ground and naval operations. With its inspiring motto “Nabhaḥ Spr̥śaṁ Dīptam” (Touch the Sky with Glory), drawn from the Bhagavad Gita, the IAF embodies excellence, courage, and dedication. Today, it operates a modern fleet, engages in humanitarian missions, disaster relief, and peacekeeping, while continuously modernizing to safeguard the nation’s skies and contribute to regional stability.
