Eligibility Requirements for HSSC Constable 2026

Applicants must meet the following mandatory educational and age conditions

Academic Qualifications
  • Completed 12th from a recognized university or institution.
  • Passed Matriculation (10th) with Hindi or Sanskrit as one of the compulsory subjects.
  • Must have cleared the Common Eligibility Test (CET) for Group-C posts.
Age Criteria (as on 1 January 2026)
  • General Category: 18 to 25 years.
  • Relaxations Provided:
    • Up to 5 years for Scheduled Caste (SC), Backward Classes (BCA/BCB), and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates from Haryana.
    • Ex-Servicemen: Period between discharge and re-enrolment should not exceed 4 years.
  • Special Note: Candidates who previously applied under Advertisement 14/2024 will have age considered as on 1 September 2024, but they need to submit a fresh application.

  • Height: 170 cm (General category); 168 cm (Reserved categories)

Mode of Selection

The recruitment is conducted under the CET policy with the following key phases:

Phase 1: Screening Based on CET Marks

  • Candidates are called for physical tests in sufficient numbers according to their merit in the Common Eligibility Test (CET).

Phase 2: Physical Measurement Test (PMT) – Qualifying in Nature

  • Height and chest measurements are taken. Only qualifying candidates advance further.

Phase 3: Physical Screening Test (PST) – Qualifying in Nature

  • Male candidates: Complete 2.5 km run within 12 minutes.
  • Female candidates: Complete 1.0 km run within 6 minutes.
  • Ex-Servicemen: Complete 1.0 km run within 5 minutes.
  • Timing is recorded accurately using RFID technology.

Phase 4: Knowledge Test (Carries 97% Weightage)

  • Up to 10 times the number of vacancies (category-wise) are shortlisted for this test.
  • Mode: Offline OMR-based.
  • Total Marks: 97.
  • Marking Scheme: No negative marking for incorrect answers, but 0.97 marks deducted for each unattempted question (candidates should mark the 5th bubble if leaving a question blank).

Phase 5: Extra Marks for NCC Certificate (3% Weightage)

  • Maximum 3 marks awarded:
    • NCC ‘A’ Certificate: 1 mark
    • NCC ‘B’ Certificate: 2 marks
    • NCC ‘C’ Certificate: 3 marks
